Watch a year of progress at Hinkley Point C in 2023

EDF, which is leading the development of Hinkley Point C power station, has released an end-of-year film highlighting the progress made on the huge engineering project.

The nuclear plant development currently employs 10,000 workers and involves 3,500 British companies in its supply chain. Once built, it power six million homes with reliable zero carbon electricity made in the UK.

The dome for the plant's first reactor building was recently lifted into place. The major milestone closes the roof on the first reactor building, allowing the first nuclear reactor to be installed next year.

Engineering teams lifted the 245-tonne steel dome precisely into place on top of the reactor building on 15th December. The achievement ends the year on a high as the 14-metre-tall dome sits on top of the 44-metre-high reactor building.
