XYZ hosts 5-axis and robotic machine tending seminar at the MTC

XYZ Machine Tools is hosting a seminar to highlight the future of 5-axis machining and robotic machine tending in collaboration with the MTC in Coventry.

The event, taking place on 17^th October, will include presentations from leading figures involved in 5-axis machining and robotics from industry, business groups and academia, who will speak on a range of topics related to this technology.

Demonstrations will also be carried out on the brand new robot-centred XYZ Robo-Tend mobile machine tool automation system as well as the high performance, cost-effective fully simultaneous 5-axis machining centre, the XYZ UMC-5X.

The day will be split into two session, morning (9:00 start) and afternoon (12:00 start) so visitors have a choice of which to attend and places can be reserved at XYZ’s website

The presentations last one hour and include contributions from James Selka – Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) chief executive who will highlight the associations thoughts on the value and economics behind connecting cost effective automation and 5-axis machining and how it is the future of manufacturing.

Mike Wilson, managing director of KUKA UK will focus on the major factor in the successful implementation of robot automation that is the strong partnership between the customer and the solution providers such as been created by XYZ Machine Tools, Adelphi Automation and KUKA who together are providing a foundation for success.

The MTC’s chief engineer of intelligent automation, Jeremy Hadall will then present the importance of robotics now and into the future. This leads on to Paul Stout, managing director of Adelphi Automation, who will detail the journey in developing the innovative XYZ Robo-Tend system, which his company has taken from concept to design and manufacture.

Once the presentations are complete, attention will switch to 5-axis machining and the XYZ UMC-5X where Juan Martin - European 5-axis technical director from Buffalo Machinery will explain how single clamping five-face machining is the first step to un-manned operation.

Highlighting the key benefits of the fully simultaneous UMC-5X machining centre that are the key for higher productivity. Completing the session is Jonathan Theobalds - managing director, Rivercircle. As a current user and new adopter of 5-axis machining and the XYZ UMC-5X, he will explain why the company made the investment and the immediate benefits that have been realised.

Live demonstrations of all aspects of the UMC-5X and ROBO-TEND will take place immediately after then presentations have concluded.
