UK manufacturing votes to remain in the EU
UK manufacturing will have a stronger future if Britain remains in the European Union, according to a recent poll of more than 500 industry professionals about the EU Referendum.
EU Referendum: businesses back remain campaign
A survey carried out by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) suggests business people are backing the Remain campaign in the EU Referendum, but the number of those wanting to leave is increasing.
54% of 2,200 members of the BCC surveyed in April said they would vote remain, down from 60% in February's survey. 37% said they would vote to leave the EU, up from 30% previously.
Adam Marshall, acting director of the BCC commented: "Although a clear majority of the business people we surveyed continue to express a preference to remain in the European Union, the gap between Remain and Leave has narrowed significantly in recent weeks," he added.
The survey also found that larger organisations were more likely to say they would vote to remain in the EU, while smaller firms with less then 10 staff were more likely to vote to leave.
