Export success

Muffett Gears secures significant export order.

Developing close working partnerships with its customers and nearly 100 successful years in business has enabled Tunbridge Wells-based Muffett Gears to invest in specialist machines that are able to produce high quality parts and assemblies efficiently and cost-effectively.

Further developing its capability, the company has recently taken delivery of a new Gleason Pfauter AM250 gear shaping machine. “To meet specific and increased demand, both at home and overseas, for precision engineered gears and shafts, this significant addition to the Muffett Gears manufacturing potential not only embodies the very latest technology but also ideally complements our existing Gleason Phoenix hobbing plant,” explained Muffett Gears' managing director, Tony Smith.

Policies of continuous investment in staff, equipment and machinery, together with diversifying into new markets have been elements that have proved fundamental to the company's strength and continued growth for almost a century.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in Asia where Muffett has an already established and growing foothold. A recent pilgrimage by Mr Smith to China visiting customers resulted in Muffett Gears securing an extended contract to supply high precision components used in oncological diagnosis and treatment.
