Ready to roll

Several new products will be presented by Atkin Automation, a specialist in high performance coil handling and processing products, at MACH.

The first, the Smart Roll Feed features a number of built-in safeguards which provide operator confirmation that it is safe to commence feeding, thereby preventing expensive damage to tooling. The company explains that those who already use its transformer core line products will find the upgraded system software of particular interest, yielding greater productivity and options. Second will be the Sandsun range of quick die change elements, for which Atkin Automation has recently been appointed the exclusive UK supplier. A quick die change element can be used in a wide variety of machine engineering applications for a ‘single minute exchange' of dies and also facilitates a sub-10 minute tool changeover. This method reduces press down time during product tooling changeover, and enables a single press operator to complete the entire process. Importantly, the system's hydraulics enable quick and consistent clamping after the changeover has been carried out. Managing director Chris Ward is cautiously optimistic about the coming months, explaining: “We have seen a number of encouraging signs of sales growth since the beginning of the year, but it is still a little spasmodic. The new products being exhibited at MACH will help manufacturers take cost out of their production processes, and our customers are telling us that such reductions are vitally important to industrial recovery.” Atkin Automation
