Clamping specialist signs up with ETG

Kosmek, the Japanese manufacturer of hydraulic and pneumatic clamping systems and precision instruments, has appointed Coventry-based ETG Workholding as its exclusive UK distributor.

Based in Hyogo, Japan and established in 1986, Kosmek has built a reputation for not just quality and innovation in clamping fixture design but also for its operating methods.

Traditional actuated clamping techniques using swing clamps and similar would operate at around 200 bar clamping pressures. By contrast Kosmek equipment typically operates at just 70 bar (hydraulic) or 5 bar (pneumatic) without compromising the clamping forces.

Lower actuation pressures can be achieved using smaller clamping fittings with a compact footprint. The result is less interference with the actual clamping fixture giving the design engineer more scope and flexibility. Often this can result in a fixture holding a higher ratio of workpieces and on single and double angle swing clamps set-up times can be reduced.

Other Kosmek features include a three directional lever link plate option to permit larger tolerances and the ability to fit a speed control valve in the body with an air venting option.
